Keeping your sword sharp” is all about keeping your marketing skills and knowledge up to date, helping you protect your current job status and/or grab those new opportunities when they arise. So news about a new range of Digital Marketing qualifications where you can pick’n’mix the subjects you’re interested in, may be of interest, especially as each is an Award in its own right. Here we answer the questions you are likely to have about CIM/CAM’s exciting new qualifications in Digital Marketing. These qualifications replace the old CIM eMarketing Award with immediate effect for CAM accredited centres like SSG.
Who/what is CAM?
The Communication Advertising and Marketing (CAM) Education Foundation Limited offers Diplomas tailored to the marketing communication needs of modern business. CAM is treated as part of CIM. What qualifications in Digital Marketing does CIM/ CAM offer?
The CAM Foundation offers two new digital qualifications:
CAM Diploma in Digital Marketing CAM Diploma in Managing Digital Media (tbc)
These qualifications will give you:
knowledge of underpinning principles of digital marketing and the skills to undertake digital marketing planning.

skills and knowledge to understandng the fundamental planning concepts for an online organisation, as well as key factors of implementation, measurement and evaluation of successful campaigns.

an appreciation of the evolution of digital marketing from a peripheral element of organisational marketing to one that is now the hub of customer-centric communications in a multi-channel environment. You will gain expertise to deal with this shift and make the most of new business opportunities this evolution has created.

knowledge of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), Per Per Click (PPC), types of online advertising, email marketing, viral marketing, online PR, affiliate marketing and social media.

understanding of the relevant legislation, codes of practice and issues such as relationship marketing, permission and consumer concerns about privacy, trust and security.

a full 35 hours CPD - half way to becoming a Chartered Marketer.
The Units that form the CAM Diploma in Digital Marketing are:

Digital Marketing Essentials (DME) - covers skills and knowledge necessary for digital marketing within organisations. The four sections are: Digital Tools, Planning, Implementing and Monitoring. The teaching and assessment covers SEO, PPC, ad types, email marketing, viral marketing, online PR, affiliate marketing and social media. It also looks at digital metrics in the form of VOC, A/B Tests and Usability studies. Legislations, regulations and codes of practice are examined.

Digital Marketing Planning (DMP) - provides candidates with the skills and knowledge to understand the fundamental planning concepts for an online organisation together with key factors in implementation, measurement and evaluation of successful campaigns. Digital marketing has evolved from a peripheral element of organisational marketing to one which is at the hub of customer centric communications in an increasingly multi-channel environment (e.g Mobile). This unit will consider a range of environmental factors both internal and external (e.g. Legal) that will shape and influence the digital marketing planning process. Various e-business models will be explored. In addition, similarities and differences covering the mix elements in traditional and digital marketing will be addressed along with issues such as relationship marketing, permission and consumer concerns around privacy, trust and security.

Marketing Consumer Behaviour (M&CB) - This double unit aims to provide you with the skills and knowledge necessary in managing marketing communications and brand support activities within organisations. The unit explains the links between communications and marketing and provides knowledge of fundamental theories of consumer behaviour, and their application to marketing communications.
