SSG is owned and run by Jon and Caroline Twomey; we set up the company in 1992 to offer personal tutoring specifically for marketing students. Our business is driven by passion; this is expressed by our enthusiastic manner and our clear approach. During our sessions we pack in as much useful coaching as we can while ensuring it is easily absorbable and personally-tailored to suit your study needs.


Jon: “I have worked in marketing and sales for over 35 years and have specialised in adult learning for 30 of those. Alongside other SSG tutors, I strive to strengthen your understanding of ‘good marketing practice’ and armed with that knowledge help you demonstrate, evaluate and present your work in a way that will shine out.”


Caroline: “I have been a customer support specialist in marketing and sales for over 25 years and my job is to be your personal point of contact. I will answer any queries, book in your tutorials, arrange your Blended Learning packages and ensure your mock exam papers get a quick turnaround.”

We are the only CIM-accredited study support centre in the UK which specialises in Exam revision and Assignment support. Our independent status as CIM revision and support specialists also makes us focussed and objective. Like The Chartered Institute of Marketing our only interest is in helping you gain your qualification as quickly and painlessly as possible. We work closely with The CIM Head Office staff, providing them with twice-yearly training to help them better understand student issues. We also regularly partner with CIM Greater London Region to run student events and pilot new student support services before we launch them. Together we’ve even won a couple of Chartered Institute awards for the breadth and quality of our student services in this area. In 2003 & 2005 we received the CIM Award for Best UK Student Programme and in 2006 won the CIM UK Special Achievement Award for outstanding student support. It’s great when all your hard work gets recognised!
Our committed team of tutors – Chartered Marketers one and all – are marketing professionals who combine their commercial experience with teaching expertise to pack a huge amount of learning into each SSG session they run. We provide a consistent delivery style due to training all our tutors in line with SSG’s unique teaching methodologies and interactive style. Our team are all passionate about their subject and expert in ‘CIM speak’. They care about your progress and treat every student with respect. That doesn’t mean they’re a soft touch though! To maintain our standards we frequently observe teaching sessions to monitor tutor quality as well as gathering feedback directly from students after every session. We are always looking for ways to make our delivery even more effective thus further improving our students’ knowledge and performance. All our Tutors attend CIM tutor training events. To ensure expert input when it comes to revision course design, we regularly review each and every study support product and service to ensure they are still in line with the latest Chartered Institute of Marketing requirements. We make it our business to worry about what the Examiner wants, so you don’t have to. Based on student feedback and with input from a core team of our expert tutors we tweak and revamp aspects of our tutorials, teleconferences, podcasts and quizzes. Even if something’s working really well, we’re always on the look-out for ways of increasing your chances of a CIM pass!
